? on the ls swap (carberated) on the alt wiring?
The engine is a 2000 gmc,5.3, the alternator is 105 amp....4 pins on the alternator, but just the charge wire, & 1 wire to the B pin on top. From what I read, the wire on the plug needs a 1/2 watt, 470 ohm resister, to switched wire, to cut the voltage down? Soldered in, it might knock a couple volts off the read....is that enough, to make it work & keep the regulator from smoking? Longhorn

I've heard that as well, but the information that I saw said that was the F-body configuration. They had a lamp on that circuit so a 12v bulb or the resistor is needed to show the voltage drop on the line, and having the alternator know its "on". Depending what alt is actually on there (stock vs rebuilt etc) this may or may not actually be the case. There have been vette' or truck reg's on plenty of rebuilts, which aren't the same. They use 12v on pin c as well.

That was my take on it also.... my 02 Silverado has a wire on pin b & c? Either alternator will work/charge on the 02. The system on the 00 GMC (donor for the engine), only had a wire on the b pin, that went back to ecm. It also showed that it was charging @ the volt guage. I have not fired the 69 yet, just trying to double check my work, before I "lite" it. Longhorn

It charges, as wired... I sure don't understand why it was wired differently from the norm ,on the trucks? But it works longhorn

So you DID put the resistor in it, right? If not, it will work for a while, but WILL eventually cook itself.
