Sticky door locks

I am close to the bottom of my "to do" list on this truck, which is a good thing!

Small issue with door locks... They stick... When I go to unlock either door, I can't turn the key at all unless I first press the thumb button on the handle...

Any idea how to tackle this? I assume I need to take door panels off and lube something, but I am not exactly sure what...

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Re: Sticky door locks

I would lube everything. Handle, lock inside and out. Also while moving and turning everything while spraying.

X2. Spay the latch inside and out with graphite spray like in this link.

Re: Sticky door locks

I had stick door locks which prevented my electric door lock actuators from working. The problem was a corroded lock rod. You need to remove the interior door panel and lube the lock rod completely, and you may need to straighten it out a little.

Re: Sticky door locks

For me, the symptom you describe was a precursor to the door latch finally sticking completely closed. I would definitely suggest lubricating soon. It is NOT fun to have to try and remove the door panel with the door stuck shut., som eof the screws are very difficult to access with the seat in place.

I focussed my lubricating spray on the latch mechanism, inside the door, on the rear jamb of the door. Once you have the interior panel off, and if you operate the lock to lock and unlock the door, you will see the part that 'rocks' up and down. I hit that with a liberal amount of lube, and that solved my troubles.

Re: Sticky door locks

problem solved - Dynamat does not stick to the inside of a door skin! It had all fallen down and gummed up the works in there... Lesson learned...
