disc brake spindle

I ran into a little snag on rebuilding my front end. It a 67 c10, the spindles I'm using are a 71-72 disc brake, all the tie rods( and the center link are 71-72. The problem i ran into is the outer tie rod shank doesn't seem long enough. With it seated in the spindle, the hole for the cotter pin is just a hair below the spindle, even when torqued down. Ive mic'd the tie rod and everything seems right. Any suggestions?

Re: disc brake spindle

Don't know if this is your problem but that happens when the earlier tie rods are used with the disc spindles.Maybe you got 67-70 tie rod ends?

Re: disc brake spindle

I tried the old tierods and they fit loosely, but the tierods end is smaller and won't thread into the adjustment sleeve, since I'm using the 71-72 linkage. Can anyone verify the numbers on my spindles are 71-72?
