Question about Summit Racing

Hope this doesn't get moved before I get an answer. I tried in the body work section with no results, so here goes. I'd like to paint mine in a flatz color for now, something besides black, has anyone used the paint from Summit? I looked at Kustomshops, or global something, and it would run as much as basecoat clear. I want to get it on the road, and since the grille and other things have a few dings, I figure it wouldn't be as noticeable in a hotrod type semi flat color. I'd paint the interior the way I want and I could redo the outside later down the road. Any ideas?

Go for it, if it makes sense economically, especially if it gets you on the road. Kind of like a bad haircut, you can redo it later...granted its a little more expensive than a haircut.

Is it intended as a flat or satin finish coat or primer? Primer is not waterproof hence the cheaper price for different and fewer ingredients. Primer seems like a good deal until you get to take it back to bare metal to get rid of the rust.

I have heard good things about the Hot Rod Flatz from Summit.

On my 67 Mustang, I used the paints from www.Eastwood.com, I think that Summit uses the same products. The paints are relatively lesser expensive and do a pretty good job. My hugger orange is a single stage paint, meaning no clear coat.

I got high build on it now, I was going to block sand, seal it with epoxy, and then spray the Flatz on it.

I saw were Autozone was selling a flat top coat for their Dupicolor line. It is on the less expensive side. I planned on either it or a tractor paint for my 86' i'm on now. Just my thoughts.

I've read about the John Deere flat paint some people use, I just don't want to use something that will cause me problems if I paint it again down the road.
