Did you say you replace the trim piece around the edge at the top? or just polished an original? I need to replace mine, it has some small pitting. You don't know a source for this piece do you? Thanks
I just polished the one that was on it using Mother's and 0000 steel wool. It took the surface rust off (worked really well on the hinge), but there is still some minor pitting. This truck isn't perfect (or as nice as yours) and likely never will be- I drive it too much. I'm pretty sure the trim ring is now reproduced and available at most parts sites for around $75.

Thanks! I'm struggling to find a receiver hitch that fits a '72 Blazer (a chore in itself) with the 37 gallon NWMP tank. I would like to hopefully drag a motorcycle back to the UK with me; the roads there are great for riding and the drivers are very bike-friendly.
