Those Eatons did come with detroits in them, if they are factory then they're detroits. Nice find!

Rotate the gears, there should be a set of numbers stamped in the ring gear, divide the numbers and they will give you the ratio.
You can also count the teeth on both the ring and pinion gears and divide them out. With them out of the truck those two are probobly the only realistic ways to do it easily. |

No numbers stamped on ring gear, and you can't see the pinion. Another locker I had was the same with no numbers on it. Thanks Randy

4:10 is the most common ratio. They could also be 4:56 or 3:54.

See how many turns of the pinon it takes to rotate the ring gear around once. Would proably be easier than counting teeth when the 3rd member is out of the rear like that

Randy, You should be able to see a series of stamped letters and numbers near the top of those slugs. It will be on the R/H side between the cooling fins. If you give me those numbers I will be able to identify them for you. I can tell you the gear ratio and weather or not they are lockers. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

Randy, are you sure they only have 32 teeth? I cant think of any ring gear with that few of teeth. Try this, mark a tooth on the ring gear with chalk and index it at the top of the case, mark a spot on the yoke and index it with a mark on the case, make 1 full revoulotion with the ring gear and count the number of times the yoke turns. Like 3-3/4 turns=3.73 4-1/2=4.56 just match it to the closest available gear ratio.

on those eaton third members look at the but end of the pinion and look at the last 2 two digit numbers and divide them. divide those and thats it. they wont be on the ring gear. you are gonna need a flshlight to look up in there and a rag will help for all the crap. if it has 3 (?? places that have like a 1" round rod") its a detroit ( no spin). if it has four then its open. also if you look inside the little observation hole in the 2nd pic. that one is smooth so its a no spin. if you see teeth then they are open. i also sent a pm to make sure yopu got it i know your busy.
