Alright guys, time to drop the C10!..?

Question: Will a 4/6 drop work without me having to put a half "C" notch in the frame? I'm rolling on 20's with front 275x45x20 Rear 295x45x20....

Still looking for a good price on a 4/6 drop to..?..

Online sites to check out??

~Thanks!

Re: Alright guys, time to drop the C10!..?

I would C notch for a 6" in the rear. I don't like springs only because it is very difficult to get the front aligned. W/ drop spindles you can still get factory specs w/out re-alignment parts up front. Tires wear better and ride is similar to stock. We did 2.5 drop spindles and cut one coil and truck actually rides better now. Names- Porterbuilt and McGaughy's are ones I have used. Don't necessariy go with the cheapest. A named brand will make your installation go a lot smoother.

P.S. Looks like you have been on here a while. Search and you will get more info that you can stand to read. Good luck

Definitely don't go 4 with springs in front.6 in rear is a crap shoot on the c-notch.Some claim you have to,others claim not.1 in springs and drop spindles front with 5 in in rear.Keep in mind that you will not get 4-6 even if you use 4 drop springs and 6 drop springs.Your truck is 40 years old and is probably lower than stock from sagging springs etc.

More than likely you will have to notch it.
I highly recommend spindles and springs in the front. I know my aliegnment shop is having a heck of time getting mine right and I did spindles and 3" springs.

HEy!
Thanks guys!
Man this is a for deal just simply dropping it. lol
And you right the truck is old so the 4/6 doesn't acutally do what it sounds like.
Finanically is the MAIN one thing I'm keeping in mind as far as Drop spindles etc...notch :-\

Again, if you have any online sites like with a good price I could handle on dropping I would thank you for!
I could handle $500 or less

Re: Alright guys, time to drop the C10!..?

You won't be able to lower it properly for $500 (maybe getting used parts)

You can get by w/o the rear notch

front:

springs spindles and shocks

Rear:

springs
shock relocators
shocks
track bar

I would check with cpp and see what they can do for a 4/6 with a forum member discount. If you have a 70 and earlier you will want to swap out the front drums and that adds a decent chunk of $$.

Re: Alright guys, time to drop the C10!..?

We did drop srings first, rode like a wagon. Did the drop spindles and spring in back now, rides like a 45 yr old cadillac now. Reeeal good. Did do the C-notch?? had bags for a brief time. No more.
IMO save and do it right the first time, I got the drops from Brothers I think, gotta get drop shocks too so save up and do it right the first time, youll actually save money unlike me...

Re: Alright guys, time to drop the C10!..?

2.5" spindles and 1,1.5 or 2 coils off of the front,
5" plus drop block or 6" drop springs out back.
Thats my suggestion.
Or
PB stage 1 with schrader valves then you can pick your ride hight and can get an air management system later.

Re: Alright guys, time to drop the C10!..?

4/6 complete drop kit from early classics.
No cnotch needed. I had that kit in my truck for four years and I believe only once it bottomed out. truck rode pretty darn good now my truck is bagged and it drives 100% better than it did with the ECE kit.
this is real world experience
