What front axle?

I have a 1985 k20 diesel. Turn in hubs. Would it be a d60 or gm10? How to identify between them?

Re: What front axle?

Should be a 10 bolt. IIRC, D60 was only in K30.

Re: What front axle?

Dana 44 will have 4 U-Bolts to hold the springs. Dana 60 will have 3 U-bolts and the fourth will be missing on the pass side inside. Cant remember if its two bolts or two nuts in place of the missing U-bolt.

Re: What front axle?

^^^ What he said ^^^
GM stopped using the Dana 44 around 1980 and the Dana 60 was only stock on the K30 trucks.

Re: What front axle?

I think it was actually more like '78, though some '79s had them, it must have been a supply issue?
