Tail shaft length?

Wanting to put a th350 in my truck, how do i know whether i need a 6'' or a 9'' tail?

from the factory these trucks came with 6" tailshafts

I changed my 3 speed manual for a th350 w/ 6 inch tail shaft. Everything went back with no problem. The automatic is the same length as the manual with bell housing. No need to change the driveshaft.
