Re: Double drop builds
Its been way too long since my last post. I will try to do better. Been working alot on both trucks. Got gold cab and clip metal work done and off to paint. The green cab is getting the rust repair treatment along with a '59 impala dash. It was actually much easier than i originally thought it would be. Both trucks have the cowl shaved and the gold one will be without wipers.

Re: Double drop builds
It took a while to do all the motor work but it was worth it.
Gold truck: 489 ci bbc. New tall deck block .030 over, lunati crank, srp pistons ,h beam rods, solid roller cam, aluminum heads and roller rockers. All topped off with msd ignition and msd atomic efi. Green truck: 383 sbc scat rotating assembly , hydraulic roller cam, aluminum heads topped with a deamon 750. Both have been balanced and use arp studs and bolts thru the complete build. |

Re: Double drop builds
Thanks. They are 13 inch mcgaughys up front and 11 inch rears i did myself from another members patterns. Had to switch out all the wheel studs to longer ones since the intro wheels are so thick.

Re: Double drop builds
Got the cab back from body work and paint for the gold one. It is going to be its original medium gold and white roof. It is base /clear with a flat clear mixed to an eggshell finish. It was very hard to judge if i liked it till i got it back for a few days and put things on it. I am very pleased. The only thing thats strange is that a shadow will make it look like the paint is thin in spots but i would not want it any other way.
The mods to the cab include : shaved and clearenced firewall, added 3rd brake light, under dash brake booster, shaved dash speaker, shaved key and heat controls, shaved drip rail ,welded rockers to corners, and top rear of cab cut off and rounded upper seam area. Also got some marquez one piece tail lights fit in the bed. |

Re: Double drop builds
They seem to be a nice setup at a good price. Hope to see soon how good they work. I would guess better than stock but not as good as wilwood. I just could not see spending much more than the mcgaughys kit.

Re: Double drop builds
Got some time to work on the interior. Mounted the msd ignition and efi box behind the glove box. Had to make the glove box a little shallower to fit it all. I picked up a billet glove box door and dash from a fellow board member. They worked out great. Autometer gagues fit great in it. Onto the wiring next!

Re: Double drop builds
Well we are either crazy or stupid. The gold one will definately beat the green one to the finish but both should be together for summer. Got a chance to do some wiring and some other installs. Will post up some pics soon

Re: Double drop builds
Worked on my front bag air lines and accuair sensor mounts. Used a -6 bulkhead fitting thru the frame and an line to the bag. Sensor looks a little stretched out since the suspension is up in the air and hanging down.

Re: Double drop builds
Yesterday was a very good work day. We got to work first on tha gold truck with a complete stero install. 6x9 speaker brackets from a fellow board member worked out great. They really finish out the corner nice.
The green truck got some love in the form of some welding on the passenger rocker and cab corner. Finished off the day on it by welding on the floor and some dash supports. |
