Shock relocation issue???

hey everybody, haven't been on in some time. busy with personal problems. anyway I am having to relocate my front shocks on my 66 gmc using the cpp kit for the top of the frame mounts. my hole in the frame for original stud is so worn out my shock rattles and am afraid of a stress fracture. I haven't gotten the parts yet but after a couple beers and to much time sitting under my wheel well I noticed that my bellcrank mount might interfere with the mount. just wanted to know if anybody has noticed this or had this problem. or is it just gonna be a tight fit and pain in the a**? there aren't any directions online... so if anybody has pics or comments id love to know!!!
also I ordered lowered coils and shocks (1" drop on both), so the other question is... did I screw up ordering lowered shocks since the brackets mount shock higher on frame? once again thanks so much. and I wont neglect the forum anymore

Re: Shock relocation issue???

This is what I did on my 65. I bagged the front, but the shocks were too long.. I removed the original top location and welded it further back.. It worked fine for me.

Here's what I did in my '64. But my truck isn't bagged. These relocation brackets move the shocks up and out. Big time improvement in front end handling. Made out of 3/16" sheet steel and some gussets welded in, nothing crazy. Fixes to the frame with 1/2" bolts.

Your thread about handling and a bouncy ride was good info, trying to keep them vertical is best. Thank you for posting your efforts and conclusion in that thread.

Re: Shock relocation issue???

great pics! i was thinking of positioning the brackets further forward or back but i really wanna maintain a straight vertical line of movement from the shock. i also really would love those brackets you have (and those bilsteins, no money for those however), NEWFISHER... did you purchase them or fabricate them yourself? those would be perfect if i hadnt already purchased the cpp brackets. my truck will also NOT be bagged.

Re: Shock relocation issue???

Those are from Reyals Bemus thread in the suspension section. I ordered, but have yet to install, CPP relocation front shock upper brackets. They are left and right and look like they will work fine.
