Pulling engine
I have an isuzu inline 4 in my c30, its taller than an sbc by several inches. Ive never pulled an engine from a pickup before, can a standard hoist usually clear the front of the truck or do you guys usually have to pull the front end apart first?

Re: Pulling engine
A hoist will usually lift right over with the core support in place, but be sure and couple the hoist down pretty close to the engine. If you have too much chain length between the hoist hook and engine, they sometimes won't lift high enough so you have to drop the engine back into place, unchain, and chain it up closer to the top of the engine. A real pain to do.

Re: Pulling engine
Pull the front wheels off. Put blocks of wood under the control arms so the front backing plates are just off the ground.

Re: Pulling engine
I have a standard hoist, an 86 K30 454 and body lift. I have a LARGE moroso oil pan. I can pull it with pan to intake on, a short chain and the hood on but springs unbolted from hood for more clearance. You shouldn't have any problem.
