brake line exhaust clearance

Hey guys

Can you tell me how close your V8 exhaust is to the front-rear brake line where it goes into the chassis/nearest to the exhaust

Ive got a 5.3 ls motor in mine now so i dont know what stock distance was anymore. Ive got about 1.5" at the closest point, and im thinking thats too close.

thanks

Re: brake line exhaust clearance

I think you will be fine.
Anyway to tweak the line to gain anymore clearance?

Re: brake line exhaust clearance

well, the line itself is all bent up as it goes over the chassis... so those bends make it very hard to reposition it.

I will try to reposition the exhaust when i get time. i might be able to get a little out of it

Do you know how close the stock V8 exhaust comes to the lines?

thanks

I am with lolife, I think you will be fine, but i would make a little heat shield out of an old license plate for a little more insurance.

Re: brake line exhaust clearance

Just because, I would make a shield. I have used aluminum house flashing to make heat shields. It's cheap, and easy to work with. available at all hardware stores.

Re: brake line exhaust clearance

hey guys

I bought some thermo-tec heat sleeve and put that on. i dont have the brake lines bolted with clips yet, so im not sure exactly where it will be, but i may make a heat shield too

I bought one of those IR temp guns, so hopefully, that will help me verify the shielding

happy thanksgiving!
