Question Edelbrock Carb/Intake Questions?

Which Edelbrock carb would be best for a fairly stock 350? And could I use it with the stock intake manifold? My other question is when I get the funds I would like to replace the intake as well. Is there a particular one I can use, but still be able to use my factory A/C mounting brackets? If anyone knows that would be great.

I think this question was just recently asked. for a stock standerd perf. 350 a 600 Edelbrock is more than adaquete.
If it has a Qjet on it now Id consider keeping it & haveing it properly prepped & tuned for your application.
A Edelbrock carb doesnt bolt to the stock intake, would have to use an adapter, bad news.
If the engine is otherwise stock, Id personaly leave the intake alone & have your carb redone & tuned. a 600 Edelbrock wont make anymore power than a properly tuned Qjet in your application. John

I'm willing to bet the 600 will work just fine. I've read on the board that a 750 is too much for fairly stock 350. I have a 500cfm Edelbrock on my 307 w/performer intake and so far it's a great combo for the little 307. I think it also depends what else you are planning to do.

I think you should do the carb and a performer intake at the same time. IMO

A/C mounting brackets, I don't know. I'd have to see where they bolt up... my performer is in the parking lot so I could go look.

if you do choose an aftermarket carb & Intake over stock, Id personally use Edelbrock Performer intake & a 570CFM Holley street Avenger on a stock 350. thats just me personally, Ive been much happier with Holley carbs lately than Edelbrocks.. John

2101 Edelbrock intake and a 1406 Edelbrock carb. 5 years of carefree driving compared to a leaking quadra-toilet that always needed something.

Yup, 2101 intake and a 1406 is a very well working and proven combo for a stock or mild 350. Works great in these trucks.
I have been running a 2101 intake for abut 30k miles and a 1406 carb for about 20k miles. Both are great!

im going to be running a performer rpm intake with a 1406 carb just for more upper range power in my truck. mostly stock 350. hei and headers to duals. one day a 383
i hope the performer rpm works good on my truck. im polishing it.

The 2101 is perfect for a stock to mild 350. The 1406...I can't remember which carb that is...the 600 with an electric choke, or a manual choke...
Go with the electric choke...which ever part number it is.

sweet, the 2101 ans 1406 is a great set up.
As far as an adapter plate...no big deal. Still better and cheaper than a leaky "quadra-toilet". (I like that...quadra-toilet...LOFL!)

2101 and 1406 sounds good to me. Any of you running your factory a/c bracket with that intake? I really don't want to waste any money on this "quadra-toilet"(lmfao) a new set up would be just in time for X-mas (hint, hint).

I "had" a Weiand intake on mine and had to trim the a/c bracket that bolts to the intake so it would clear the runners. I didn't have to take much material off though. It's nothing a bench grinder can't handle.

Edelbrock performer or performer RPM intake and 1406 carb. Be prepared to re-jet the carb though, I have the same carb on the stock 350 in my chevelle and it runs like a pig (huge clouds of black smoke and horrible mpg) because I dont know how to tune the carb.

they are pretty easy to tune. start with idle mixture screws first. rurn each one in all the way till you feel it resisting & stop. now back each screw out 1.5 turns.
Thaty should give a good starting point. Sounds to me like maybe your choke is sticking.

The electric choke models are jetted quite a bit lower than the manual chokes. This is one reason i recomend them.

just get an adapter plate and some rubber fuel line. You'll need a pipe cutter too.

Will my kickdown bracket work with the new carb? And will that old choke spring element need to be removed? I appreciate all the input, just trying to avoid as many complications as possible. Need this to be a some transition process, (if possilbe).

Yes your kickdown bracket will work. Mine did anyway.

Just leave the choke thing on there and don't hook it up to anything

You may need to get a kit for your kick down...I kinda fabbed mine outa junk I had laying around. Even if you don't get it hooked up, it isn't a big deal (onless you have an overdrive tranny)

the kickdown isnt hooked up in either of my trucks. i hope that will change when i covnert to a turbo 400

I got a new kick-down for a newer (75ish) 350 and replaced the whole cable. It was only like $12 and the new one works much better with the edelbrock carb. (not to mention the old one wasn't hooked up)
