Don't hack a nice dash. Someone please tell us if those decks I think they are called USA-5 or USA-6 are any good. Hacking a dash is not the right thing to do , reguardless, IMO.

I put an Alpine tape player in mine without cutting it. Future plans include a disc changer under the seat. (I already have a Kenwood 10 disc changer, just got to get a new control unit.)

Definetly don't cut the dash, I don't have the Kenwood in mine, but Kenwood does have a reputaion for quality.

If you drive it, and you want a good sounding stereo, and you want a stereo that is cost effective....cut that SOB up.
You can always weld it back up later if you chainge your mind.

USA6

I spent the money (too much), got the USA6 with a 6 disc changer under the seat and kick panel speakers and dual voice coil speaker in the stock location.

Buy the Kenwood or hack the dash. I wish I had.

i havent actually dont it yet, but when i get to that point in my resto project, im going to build a box just large enough to put a cd receiver in, and then bolt it up under the heater control. i would just use the two screws holding the heater control (probably have to find longer ones) and brace it to the back. then i could avoid hacking the dash, and leave the unwired factory one in there for the stock looks.

I bought the usa 6 with disc changer and kickpanel speakers.

usa6 good

cd changer ok- it gets hot or something and just quits workin for a little while at a time

speakers blow- drivers side doesn't fit without moving parking brake and dimmer switch
