Re: Alternative to running board steps

My uncle has a Packard with a similar look.
his is a solid "D" shape made from stainless.
very expensive, although I would like to do the same.
where did you find that body side molding?

This is not a new idea. In fact it's pretty old. I've seen it done on various cars & trucks at shows for at lest 20+ years. But it IS an excellent reminder, thank you to Brikar. By the way, your truck is outstanding, huge congratulations.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Beware of turkey induced comas!lol

Thanks Dan, I've bought the truck in the eary 80's it was my summer daily driver until the 90,s then i started to rebuild it the way I always wanted it.Then kids came along and ,you know 20 some years later I finally got it to were it is today.I wish I would have seen the strips on another truck, or on some of the forum threads, would have saved me some sleepless nights trying to figure out how to save the paint on the boards. The nice thing is I can step anywere on them and not have to worry.Oh and Mendonjo the paints nice but not perfect, if it was I would be afraid to drive it.

so is the reflection of his shop floor... spotless

for the record; i used 3M paint protection film to protect my step wells
it is a clear film that is applied like window tint with soapy water and a squeegee.
it protects the paint from scrapes from shoes.
most new vehicles have this protective film on the back of the wheel wells.
