Ac firewall holes

This really sounds crazy to me but.. My 72 has original holes for factory ac in the firewall but no vent holes for ac in dash? It does not look like the firewall has been changed .. Seems like it would be alot of work to change ? Any one ever see something like this?

Re: Ac firewall holes

Since there is not a lot of difference in the firewall holes is it possible that you are looking at the standard heater holes? Here is a picture of a firewall with the hole patterns of both systems labeled.

Another possibility is that someone changed out the dash.

Re: Ac firewall holes

Thanks for the pics.it's got the ac holes just like in the picture.. Doesn't look like dash was changed and if it was it would have been nice if they would have put in an ac dash! There is about an inch and 1/8 space for the wire loom . Should it be that wide?

Re: Ac firewall holes

I am not sure what you mean by the space for the wireloom. Can you clarify?

If the dash is changed correctly you may not be able to tell since the spot welds are under the windshield seal and the sides are bolted in.

Re: Ac firewall holes

Are you talking about the cowl to hood seal area? 1 1/8"

Re: Ac firewall holes

Sorry. Where the wire loom is it is about 1 and 1/8 inch. Just measured mine.
