Just one more.....

....inch lower in the rear. I've not been particularly pleased with the stance of my truck lately. I felt the rear just didn't sit low enough. I finally broke down and ordered a set of Hotchkis 6" rear drop springs. The ECE 5" springs have already been spoken for, but if for some reason he doesn't take them, I'll post in the classifieds.

For those that will ask, this gives me a total of 4.5" front drop and 6.75" rear drop. That's with 2.5" drop spindles and 2" drop springs in the front and 6" drop springs and 3/4" blocks in the rear.

Here's the results:

A couple of "before" shots for reference.

Re: Just one more.....

lookin good, did you change the tire size in the rear?
I did the same with mine, although i put 1" blocks in the rear for a total of 7". I wanted to go with an even stance versus a slight rake.

Re: Just one more.....

Thanks, guys. No c-notch....yet, Hector. The panhard bar is hitting the exhaust, but I seem to still have enough clearance between the axle tube and frame. I'll see how bad it is after the springs settle, though. Tires are still the same.

The Hotchkis springs are rated at 380lbs. and so far they seem to have a better ride than the ECE springs. I'm not trying to say anything bad about ECE, though. They still make great products. I also need to get some correct length shocks. I'm still running stock style KYB shocks. As funds permit, I'm looking to pick up some RideTech HQ shocks.

I also just installed a new Lokar throttle pedal and cable. The stock pedal and my home brew throttle linkage was getting in a bind under heavy throttle, which could get a bit hairy in certain situations. It's not a good feeling when you lift and the truck keeps going.

Re: Just one more.....

That is a great looking truck you got there, Matt. Glad to hear you like the coils too.

What are you going to do about the pan hard rod situation? Our rear suspension package that has the adjustable pan hard rod comes with our new Fox Racing shocks; you could kill two birds with one stone that way.

Have a good weekend.

Re: Just one more.....

I always liked your truck, but now I love it! I prefer a level truck over the rake look. Perfect stance

Thanks, Jon. As for the panhard rod, I'm not going to worry too much with it unless things get in a bind. As of now, it only bumps the exhaust tubing when it goes in a dip or high bump. I eventually have plans to build an exhaust system with mandrel bent pipes and have a buddy tig weld it all. I have looked at the Hotchkis products and like what I see. I'm just on a limited budget for now.

Basically it's 17x8- 255/50/17 front, 17x9.5- 275/55/17 rear. The fender is about 3/4" above the edge of the rear tire.

Re: Just one more.....

matt i dumped my exhaust right under real axle, thats another option you may consider thinking about in the future dosent interfere with anything, just get the frame dusty if you drive on a dusty road

Re: Just one more.....

That thang would look awesome now if it was still black! -j/k

I think you nailed the look of it this time. That is about the perfect stance, IMO.

I also can relate to the linkage binding thing. My brother and I nearly died in a runaway '68 Pontiac when I was 16. That bad boy had the 350HP 400 H.O. and the motor mount broke at WOT and I didn't know it was hung until I tried to let off at nearly 90 MPH. I panicked at that age, and instead of just turning switch off, and I slammed on the brakes when it was wide open and it got sideways and spun it out off the side of the road. It has been raining, and the car was spinning so hard that it wasn't really going anywhere after it spun around a few times, and I finally got it cut off.

It gave me a new respect for non binding linkagesand having good motor mounts!
