Desperately need ideas for a th400 shifter!

After about a year I finally got my baby driving again! A 1970 c10, I swapped a new engine in after cleaning it up and upgrading it some, a sbc 350 and I swapped in a th400, my dilemma is it was originally a 3 on the tree and I need to make a shifter on a tight budget, I put an th400 column in it but I need custom linkage for it. Right now I'm getting under the truck to shift it.

Go with the B&M unimatic shifter. Here is the link on summit, but Im sure if you shop around you can find it even cheaper. Easy install

Re: Desperately need ideas for a th400 shifter!

I had an old international truck with a 283 and turbo 400 and used an old pinto or mustang II shifter , there are a couple on ebay for under $75 right now.

Re: Desperately need ideas for a th400 shifter!

You might call around the local salvage yards and just tell them your looking for a truck floor shifter for your 400. Alot of people throw these B&M shifters in their vehicles and they cover many years so i bet you can find one cheap.

Post a WTB add on craigslist in your area to... someone will have one they arent using anymore.

You wont need install instructions... Plenty of videos on youtube and I think you can download the install instructions online

Re: Desperately need ideas for a th400 shifter!

You could get one of these LOKAR Kits. I installed one on my 700R4 and it works great. You could also save a few pennies by getting one of these Shift Arms and fab your own rod and ends.

Don't know how they'd work on a K though.

Re: Desperately need ideas for a th400 shifter!

Contact cash3481 or Teeitup from this board... the I know the 67 Pickups came with the SBC with a 400 turbo and they probably have the factory shift setup for you... I have a 67 with that combo...

Wink Re: Desperately need ideas for a th400 shifter!

I used a floor mounted S-10 shifter for my 700-r4.
Cool part is it has a built in anti theft built into it.

It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

If they have it, it will be very reasonable...
