the issue is I drive this truck from time to time. It sits inside my garage because I have plenty of room and it wont get stolen. I didn't want to get rims and tires but I had a few blow out and couldn't get aligned with different size tires so I went ahead and got them.

So as it sits in the shop and Im grinding. Or rattle canning a table for the wife or sawing some wood I don't want them ruined. Or decide to hit a fender with the DA theres all kinds of dust around.

Trying to figure out the best of all worlds

still drive it but not ruin them. The more I look I think the RV covers will be the ticket. I'm just not sure how tight to the wheel they are and don't want overspray or dust to creep around the sides.

im scared of the spray on stuff or plastidip. I did have a brilliant idea though. How about some spray on PAM or cooking spray. Should make it easy to wipe off any grime. unless it goes rancid and hardens. hmmm

I scrolled through 18 pages of Hazel's build because I remembered Keith did something to protect the new wheels. Just another idea but the back sides have to be protected too because body shop dust will find its way in anywhere!

I was scared of it also, so I tried it on an old wheel center cap that I had. It worked perfect, and pulled off nice and clean. I have done nine different sets of wheels, some multiple times. Some I have just done for the winter and some I have left on for a few years and no problems (and absolutley no corrosion fostering either).

Any junk yard should have a set of junk wheels to send your truck to the body shop with , I've built many cars/trucks over 35 years and the first thing a customer would take home were the wheels on the day he dropped it off , we didn't want the hassle of dealing with new wheels and tires while welding /grinding /painting . WHY take the chance ?
