Hi Kennuck, If you plan to use the factory ac compressor (as i am going to do) you may run into clearance issues between compressor and mounts using aftermarket brackets,etc. The way i did mine probably isn't the most popular here but this is my take on it: i didn't want to use 40 year old mounts that may separate and allow the motor to move around, i wanted to use newer technology mounts that address noise , vibration, harshness, etc, so i used the organ donor (2001 5.3) and made my own perches from 1/4" plate. Removed all the old frame brackets and started from scratch. By using the 2001 mounts my perches don't hit the a/c compressor, my mounts don't interfere with my headers like fancy tubular mount brackets do. I didn't want to use 73 and newer poly mounts as i've heard that they are rock hard. Does late model gm trucks with 4.8,5.3,6.0 have motor mount issues like rock hard, or separate? Not that i know of. If i was to do it over again i would consider trailblazer/ss mounts that look like hockey puck biscuits. Use the factory cast iron brackets to engine and fab it to the crossmember. Oh also the trailblazer a/c compressor fittings are inline front to back. Some guys use a different compressor and notch the frame for one line. I can't bring myself to do that when the trailblazer has everything i need. Good luck, Brian F.
