She's Home and In The Garage!!

This is the first time in nearly a decade that my truck has seen a garage! I know she's not much to look at yet, but she will be! I've been gathering parts for months, and in a few more months I'll have the last few parts I need to begin! I will start a build thread then, but for now here she is. 68 Longbed Step that my grandfather purchased new . I love her so much!! (Don't tell my wife I said that!)

What do ya'll think?!?

I cannot wait, thanks guys .

I've got big plans, but the wife and I are planning on starting a family so money will be tight. It will be a drawn out process for sure, but totally worth it .

I love my stepside.....I rather wish it was a long wheel base like yours. Give it the best shot you can!

Cool truck and especially since it is still in the family.. I tried to buy my dads original 65 but the guy just wanted to much. Good luck with everything. Is it on bags now or static

That's the first lowered long step I've seen, looks pretty sweet! Have fun with the build, looks like it will make a cool finished product.

For some reason that truck just needs a dog in the front seat to be complete. A BIG dog.

Re: She's Home and In The Garage!!

THanks guys!! The response is VERY inspiring! I want to thank you all for that .

Currently it is bagged, all bolt in stuff I did in high school. Removed the rear coils, bolted in 8" bags. Front bag plates on the upper spring bucket, with a 6" bag sitting in the lower.

It sits as low as I could get it at the time without frame modification. However, I've decided to go ahead and notch the frame. Because I love my bed so damn much, I am going to raise the bed floor 6-8" to accomodate the new back half. I also plan on running 15" wide rear tires, so I will section the rear end to help it fit. The plan is to make a storage area with the extra space, and the bed floor will be on linear actuators to tilt up and show off the watts link.

The front will be getting a Thorbeck drop member with Gen 6 motor mounts. I already have CPP 2.5" drop spindles, tubular upper and lower arms, and a rack & pinion steering setup. Just waiting on a bit more money set aside to pull the trigger on the drop member. Once the front is done, it will be going to a friends shop here in town and we will do a back half on it.

There will be TONS of pictures, as mandated by my wife lol.

Again, thanks for all the positive response . I cannot wait! Probably order the last of the parts around February. For now, just cleaning her up getting her ready for surgery .

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
