'71 C10 fresh air vent?????

In the process of replacing rust in my truck, I've noticed all the crap that has accumulated in my "vent box" at the outside of the cowl. The former owner had installed a ss screen under the cowl yet it has rotted. How can this be prevented?
Thanks

I used regular screen porch screen. It's been under the cowl for several years now and still works good.
Keeping it inside the garage works the best though!

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

This truck will not sit inside. Is there supposed to be a drain that I don't see?

LMC sells cowl screen kits for under cowl. I tacked expanded metal to outside lower holes on cowl panel as well.(behind front fenders.. under cowl) Cant see them without lookin up under cowl... Keep critters out too

Lay on your back and look straight up above front of outer rocker... Lol. You'll see a gap between the cowl panels

It'd be tough... Mice like to nest in that area of your pic. Look under the area of our pic... You'll see the drain I covered in expanded metal.
