327 Power steering bracket question

The power steering pump bracket that bolts to the back of the pump for slide adjustment and to the motor mount on my 1966 327 broke. I have a new bracket, but getting conflicting reports as to how it is really installed. I have heard under the motor mount, on top the mount. It looks like mine can only go under the motor mount and bolted to the front upper hole and the lower hole. That leaves the rear of the motor mount spaced out the thickness of the bracket. Mine has flat washers in that space. I am questioning the flat washer spacing. Anyone have a picture of the correct way? Thanks, Jim

Re: 327 Power steering bracket question

Have you thought about repairing your old mount by v-out the crack and welding it up or taking the bracket to a welding shop ? I have welded many of these as they are mostly mild steel and would be a simple job . Just my two cents .

Yes, welding was an option, but I found a replacement. My concern now is figuring out how it is suppose to be installed properly. thanks, Jim

Re: 327 Power steering bracket question

it doesn't go under the mount but over it. you may have to cut way some rubber. the early insulators did have an allowance for that. new insulators have more rubber on them

Re: 327 Power steering bracket question

Does anyone make a motor mount that I will not have to modify?

Re: 327 Power steering bracket question

Padresag's picture is correct.
In the o.p's pic,you can see where the boltheads were on the bracket.
The bracket fits great on the old style mounts but you have to work on the newer interlocking style motor mounts.

Thanks for photos and drawings. Now just need a motor mount that will work with it.

Re: 327 Power steering bracket question

Chevrolet made another style pump bracket that is easier to put on. you might check other makes and later years . I had the same problem on a 66 327 that I put ps on . ended up getting the other style and was easy to put on mike

Re: 327 Power steering bracket question

the 2 mounts on the bottom right are orig type mounts , the other 2 are newer style and where I placed the wood pieces is where you would have to remove material. it would still be as good as original
