Not factory. Aftermarket of some kind.

Re: factory grille guard?

I think this is the closest your going to get to factory, I believe its a dealer installed brush guard. My friend has one just like it that came on his 64. What do you think Keith?

Re: factory grille guard?

aftermarket for sure, all the items around that truck give me a hint the owner is a gear head haha

i think this style is the coolest aftermarket for our 73-87's

Re: factory grille guard?

Definitely aftermarket. My dad had the exact one with the plastic strips all the way to the top on his 86.

i've seen this one and would love it too. The original photo i posted with its profile cuts of the factoy bumper and the rubber strips going up made me wonder of its OEM possibilities.

Next question is does anyone know where one like the original photo can be had? The heavy duty is cool but i could be very happy with the first one.

Re: factory grille guard?

OK AGAIN, here's a neat little trick to find where the original pictures came from: First open up another tab to Google images, next go back to the picture you want to search for and drag it over to the Google image tab now drop it in the search box. Then scroll down until you see the page you want.

Re: factory grille guard?

Would the grill guards that came on the military blazers technically be considered factory?

Re: factory grille guard?

The grille guard on the crew cab "use" to be built by go rhino. They don't produce them anymore.

Re: factory grille guard?

The one on my crew? Do you know if they installed them at the dealer or was it solely aftermarket?

Re: factory grille guard?

Here is a neat bumper I saw on a truck in a junkyard last week. It looks similar to yours, and I believe is aftermarket.

Here is my own M1008 bumper on my FRANKENTRUCK. I guess I consider it to be factory, if not original!

Re: factory grille guard?

Actually IIRC the grille guard from the military was also used on a lot of the commercial use c3500 duallies .. In NYC I drove a lumber truck with one and I remember food delivery vehicles, EMS ambulances and other heavy duty vehicles having them the only difference was they were white or silver
