Lower control arms
Good morning,
I have removed and cleaned my lower control arms, and ready to put them back together. I am curious to know if anybody has the procedure for installing the lower shafts. When I tighten mine up, they are way to tight and I can't even turn them. What is the torgue spec. suppose to be, for both the upper and lower? I know there is other posts on this same subject, but I can't find any information. The control arms are off a 71. Thanks |

Re: Lower control arms
I'm in the process of doing mine also, and have yet to find a good "how to". I did my lower ones by centering the shaft in the control arm, and screwing on the bushings equally from both sides. Waiting for my upper shafts to come in, so I haven't done them yet. They will go on very tight. I found one article that says 190 for the uppers and 280 for the lowers, but cant verify that.

Re: Lower control arms
my manual says lower control arm shaft u-bolt @ 45 ft/lbs, control arm flexible bushing bolt @ 140 ft/lbs, upper control arm shaft nuts @ 70 ft/lbs and balljoint nuts @ 50 ft/lbs. (C10 numbers)
