Winter

ya'll in colder weather have tips for letting your classic truck hibernate for the winter? Is it bad to periodically start the engine in the winter? Should I put an additive in the gas tank ? Any advice would be appreciated ! This is my first winter with a non daily driver classic truck.

Re: Winter

i drive truk thru the car wash, fill the tank and then park it in the garage before the first salt hits the road. i bought 2 of the harbor fright battery tenders last spring when they were on sale for $4.99, my first yr for doing that. otherwise i have to charge the battery every week due to draw down from the alarm system.

come on spring time

Re: Winter

not bad to periodically start it in the winter. if you don't have a battery tender like ogre was talking about, you can disconnect the battery and call it good if its in warm storage. if its cold storage, i suggest pulling the battery out and storing it somewhere warm so it doesn't freeze.

other than that, fill it up like ogre said. i'd recommend just putting some sea foam or a similar product in with it and call it a day

Re: Winter

My truck is scattered all over, but I put stabile in the tank, it has a bat cut off. When I'm in the garage all day and it's nice and warm I start it every 3 wks or so. I'll let it run for 15 minutes. I changed the oil a couple wks before I put it up.

Re: Winter

I use stabil in four of my older rigs that dont see much road time in the winter. The stuff they sell for gas today is junk and goes rancid in a hurry. I also use the battery tenders. They are worth every penny.

Re: Winter

My truck's not that nice. I wait for days with no snow or ice on the road and drive it.

Re: Winter

Up here in MN, I disconnect the battery, put some Stabil in the tank after running for a few minutes and when the snow is gone in four-to-five months...
