Door Seal Installation

This weekend I plan on installing some rubber door seals on my 84'. Is there any adhesive I am suppose to use for the installation?

Re: Door Seal Installation

No.

The factory didn't use adhesive but did crimp the edge of the seal onto the pinch flange in the door opening using a "scoffing" tool (...Lord knows why it is called that).

However - after time the seals begin to fall down around the tight bends of the upper corners.

If you leave the seal a little long and really press it into those tight radii you will probably be all right. Mine were done five years ago and are still holding up ok.

Or - if you wanted to use a little urethane windshield adhesive in those corners I don't think anyone would fault you

Re: Door Seal Installation

I do not think the seals are installed using any type of adhesive. Here is a series of how to videos I found online.
