Is it a sin?

I just got my new work truck, a 2004 ford service truck with a 6.0 diesel. i love it. that 6 liter is amazing. Does anybody know if it is possible to put a 6 ltier in a 67-72 pickup? im a big deisel fan, and this engine is amazing. i want one in the truck, jsut wondering if it is doable.

It's possible to put a 426 HEMI in a Volkswagen, All depends on your skill and finances.

nothing wrong with a ford imo. just some of them are pos's... some chevys are piece of crap too. id say try to put one of those diesels in a 67-72. but it might get expensive fast...

hey orange72350,

Have you driven a new duramax? When i was looking last summer, i drove all of the diesels, and have to admit that diesel tech has come a long way in the last few years. All of the trucks that i drove had awesome power when driving around empty, but the real test is when pulling or towing. I wouldn't trade my allison for anything after towing with it.

Good luck, and i don't think it's a sin, any truck that costs 40 grand should be awesome.

Well as far as putting it in a Chevy, I pretty sure those motors are made by International, so you should be able to get away with it

I've always wanted to do this. But the cost is what stopped me. But if i did it, i definately would NEVER sell the truck. When i get some money i might end up doin a project like that. Might be cool. Has is been done before?

if you have the cash look for a wrecked truck for the doner drivetrain. a friend of mine repairs wrecks and you can get everything you need for less than you can get pieces. he has gotten dodges for around $5000 and if you bought just the motor and tranny you would pay that and still not have the odds and ends you may need. some of the roll overs look bad but have many usefull parts. if i had the $ i would like to put a 67-72 body on a dodge chassis. i'm talking about 4x4 of course.

Like said above, Ford doesn't build it. Ford wouldn't know how to build a good deisel...then again, GM didn't do a very good job untill they brought Isusu on board.
