Looking for advice

Hey guys I am new to the site and also new to the 67-72 Chevy trucks. I recently bought a 1968 C-10 stepside that I am going to be doing a light restoration on. The biggest question I have is what vendor would you guys recommend to purchase my trim goods from. Such as dash pads, emblems, door handles and other things of that nature. Thank you for any advice!

I would Highly Recommend Classic Parts Of America http://www.classicparts.com/ ... They are located in Riverside, MO... They are great guys and very helpful... Another great source for US made part for Stepside Pickup is Mar-K in Oklahoma City http://www.mar-k.com/Catalog/index.aspx ... Brothers Truck Parts is ok but seem to be a little pricey... LMC Trucks in Olathe, Ks is the one that does alot of advertising but they are a bit arrogant and not customer friendly and if you have any Tech questions you are pretty much on your own with them...

Welcome to the board, lots of great people on here to help you out if needed. Wes at Classic Heartbeat. Paul and Paul jr. at GMC Pauls. Those are some great guys that really help out the truck industry. SO KY [ southern kentucky] there also pretty good guys to deal with although at a show one guy was kinda short with me but it was a show weekend and I bet he had no sleep and was working his butt off. Brothers good selection [they all have]but a time a two their shipping was slow but I don't hold it against them

It depends on what is important to you as you can see by the different responses. Do you want fast shipping? Tech savvy salespeople? Great customer service? Easy to use website? Color catalogs? Seasonal sales? I have ordered from GMC Paul's, Brothers, LMC, Early Classic, Jegs, Summit, Jim Carters, Classic Parts....They are all good and I go for cheapest, specials, in-stock.... Customer service is all the same, just depends on who you catch on the phone and what kind of day they are having.

Most people seem to be down on LMC, but they do have a few things that no one else does. For most everything stick with a forum vendor. They a have a vested interest in providing quality parts and service at competitive prices.
A bad review can really hurt their business.
Also, many or most of these supporting vendors are small "Mom and Pop" type business that live or die by our dollars.

I've had success with random items from GMCPaul's. I have to admit, I've spent thousands at Brother's online when they do their annual sale (usually around October). It's worth holding out for usually. I've also been a longtime LMC customer.

I love the LMC catalogs. It's like truck porn for us. It also serves as a guide sometimes when trying to figure out what you need or what goes where. It's worth going online and requesting the free catalog in the mail just for that purpose for sure!

Also, don't forget about craigslist! I scored a low hump brand new carpet for $80 from someone who thought he had a low hump but had a high hump. I also scored some new door interior peices for $80 on creepslist, brand new and they look great!

As others have said, I'm a big proponent of supporting our board vendors. I've never bought anything from Wes, but GMC Paul has been very good to me.

But at risk of personal peril, I wanted to put in a good word for LMC. I live in the same zip code as LMC and as a result it's very convenient to run over there when I need something, not to mention they are open on Saturday and Sunday. LMC is a favorite whipping boys of lot of guys on this site, and I'm sure many of the complaints are justified. I've not bought a lot from them, but they've saved my bacon more than once and I've had no problem with anything I've purchased there.

I also really like Classic Parts in Riverside, Mo. (Kansas City). They don't have selection that LMC has, they are doubling the size of their warehouse, so that may change.

To date the only thing I have found that LMC had that Classic Parts didn't was a Bed brace... but everyone has their one personal experience and I am glad we all have the choices we have... Makes life great working on these trucks... LOL

I've bought a lot of parts from classicparts, they're inexpensive, but you get what you pay for. For rubber parts such as seals, don't buy them there. I bought the window scrapers and they don't even touch the glass. For seals, I would go with Wes at Classic heartbeat, or GMC Pauls. They both have excellent reputations and customer service. Plus it's always a good idea to buy from one of the forum venders.
And he's right about LMC's catalogue... Va Va Va Voom! Truck Porn!
I bought my dual exhaust at LMC, and I couldn't be happier. Great deal for exhaust.
