Need advice 63 C-10 4x4 build
I would like to start collecting parts for this build so I can complete it this summer, but I want to get a good plan together before I start randomly buying parts.
I'm trying to do a budget build here (don't have unlimited funds for this project) but I am looking at my options. Currently the truck is a 2wd, lwb, c-10 with 4 speed, 292. I would like to keep the 292, but make it 4wd. if a complete chassis swap would be easier for the 4wd I would be willing to do that. I would like to have 33" or 35" tires and an auto tranny. I am willing to buy an older silverado to use as a donor truck or a chassis base. any years easier than others? Issues with retrofitting the newer auto column to the older cab? I'm not afraid to cut things and rebuild things, so please come forth with the suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Re: Need advice 63 C-10 4x4 build
The 60-66 2 wheel drive chevys use coil springs...the 4-wheel drives had leaf springs. The 60-63 frames are also a little different than the 64-66....as far as swiching to an 73-87 chassis, the shortbox wheelbase is 115" on 60-66 trucks and are 118" on 73-87 chassis. I assume the longbox also has the 3" difference (?). You can move axle on the springs etc.... Its a lot of work and math no matter how you go ! Good Luck with your project!

I know you said you would get a Silverado as a donor. Your truck being a lwb have you looked at the Scotsdales as well? You may have better luck with a suburban frame...
I would have to look at all the specs, and of course like you, wait for the real pros on this board to chime in. The wisdom around here is awesome !!
