Are longhorn beds actually longer?

I think I have a longhorn/camper special bed. It came off of a 1970 GMC 3/4 ton. It had heavy leaf springs, the regular 3/4 ton just had heavy coil springs right? Plus I measured the bed and it is 8'6" long and it was on my 127 inch wheel base truck and the wheel base looked like it was off, one reason it worried me was because my truck was cut in half and rewelded so I thought it was off. But it was the bed that was making it look wrong it's actually 127". Is the wheel well on a camper special farther back than a regular 127 inch bed, or what?

Yes. The extra 6 inches are added to the front of the bed. A Longhorn bed should have a vertical seam where you can see the addition.

Unless the bed has been altered it should look like the picture. Longhorn wheel base is 133".

Re: Are longhorn beds actually longer?

Longhorns are built on the 1 ton 133" cab & chassis frame. That's C/20 and C/30 Longhorns. A 3/4 ton Longhorn sits on a 1 ton frame. All 1 ton frames are leaf rear springs. But,any C/10 or C/20 could have coil or leaf springs...longbed/shortbed. The Longhorn bed is a regular longbed with 6" added to the front. You can see the seam. All Longhorn bed floors are wood
