Lock Cyl.

Are door lock cylinders from Brothers, or LMC any good? Or can a lock smith put tumblers in mine?

Re: Lock Cyl.

A good locksmith can rekey yours. Are your cylinders missing?

Re: Lock Cyl.

No. The key will not turn it. It needs tumblers I think.

Re: Lock Cyl.

A locksmith should be able to fix it.

Re: Lock Cyl.

if by any chance you have issues with the locksmith (dont think you will but...) I'll chime in on the LMC anyway. Now I havent tried the one for the 60-66 cyl. but I did use LMC to replace the cyl. on my '89 GMC S15. No issues on installation and they worked with no issues for nearly 10 years before I sold the truck.

Re: Lock Cyl.

I bought one of these for my '65
http://www.classicparts.com/1960-66-.../#.UsDYF2d3ucw
I had to do some grinding on the mechanism for it to work and it started rusting within days of installing it. I really wish I hadn't thrown the original away.

Re: Lock Cyl.

There were some variants in the early models. And some guys have had issue with aftermarket locks in OEM handles.
