Rear main seal

I am building a 1977 350 motor and cannot figure out witch way the 2 piece oil seal should go. I was told that if it is in backwards it will leak.
Does anyone have anyone have a photo of which side faces the crankshaft?

I lifted this pic off of the net....

First rule of turning wrenches.....Pay attention to how it came apart..

Hope this helps..The lip faces in.

And be sure to use the "shoe horn" provided with the seal when installing the half that goes in the block.

"Theoretically" that is good advice, but in actual practice, it only helps if it was done right the last time. Otherwise you are just repeating someone else's mistake.
There is no substitute for proper research.

If you were referring to my pic you're welcome.....We all start somewhere and don't always have someone to ask.

I've mentored many up and comers in the "wrenching" bizz. Always helped 'em. But not without some form of advice to go along with the fix.

Wasn't trying to be a smart arzz.
