Wheel and hub cap options in 72
I'm thinking about going for a more original look on my 1972 gmc jimmy and was wondering what the options were in 1972 4x4 6 lug as far as what came on it originally. What size the wheels where and the correct hub caps that were offered. Also, what the back spacing was. Any help would greatly appreciated. Please feel free to post pics of your ride if you have the original wheels on yours.
Thanks, Nick |

Ive seen dog dish , full wheel covers and none...just bare steel in the original brochures. Ill have to get out the literature to get the actual tire/rim sizes

Re: Wheel and hub cap options in 72
Mine had white spoke wheels as a factory option. I had a pdf copy of a factory options brochure somewhere. I'll see if I can find it.

Re: Wheel and hub cap options in 72
There were options in size, but not in style. 15 x 6 was standard with 16 x 5 and 16.5 x 8.25 as options. The 15s came with hubcaps or wheel covers,16s only hubcaps, and 16.5s had no hubcaps. The option was in the tires and the wheel came with it

Re: Wheel and hub cap options in 72
Those are probably 15 x 6 "4 nub" wheels and the caps are 1/2 ton examples about 10.5" in diameter or so with 72 and below being chrome and 73 and up being stainless steel IIRC.
16 x 6 wheels were another GM option.
