1972 3/4 t0n 4x4 Ambulance?
Alright, I recently purchased a low miles ambulance/suburban out of Colorado. Here's the thing, the company that fitted the top was out of Indiana, and doesn't exist anymore, and the truck is showing a VIN code C/10, so, I know that a small number of public service vehicles were purchased 1/2 ton and then out-fitted with heavier springs/axel's. What companies were available, or how do I get more information? any tips are much appreciated, thanks.

Your best bet would be to type the word "ambulance" into the GOOGLE search box at the top of this page, click on the circle in front of "67-72chevytrucks.com" and click on the GOOGLE button. You will find quite a few threads on the subject. Just make sure the thread you are looking at refers to your style of truck. (Hits will include all years) LockDoc

I could have used something like that today! My poor Honda Accord does well hauling my tools to and fro but it's hardly made for it.
I really want a Burb or panel, 4x4 would be nice! Vans are FUGLY to me and always have been. *Heck of a find there bro....I really like it too. |

Re: 1972 3/4 t0n 4x4 Ambulance?
The VIN says C/10 or K/10? Need to start there. If VIN says C/10,then someone converted it to 4wd using 3/4t axles. If it's K/10 I guess someone swapped in the axles. Could have been an owner on down the line did it. What axles and transfer case are in it? Since a K/20 Suburban could be had from factory,I would thing the fire dept. would have simply bought it that way. I think it's a later swap, using C/10 ambulance on a K/20 frame? Got pictures of the axles and transfer case?
