I am in the process of putting an summit inline pump, regulator and gauge under the hood of my truck because I am planning on an LS motor swap and my current pump quit. Any one have any pics of where you have mounted the pump? I am going to mount mine up in the morning and I plan on running a relay to power it off the ingtoin switch and a toggle switch under the dash to turn it off if need be.

I think most everyone mounts the electric pump closer to the tank rather than the engine. Usually on inside of the frame rail for protection.

I am also curious about where the pump mounts, and how lines are run and such, Would love to see some pictures.

I wouldn’t recommend an electric fuel pump be mounted under the hood. I think you will find all inline electric fuel pump suppliers will advise to mount the pump at the lowest point possible closest to the fuel tank and away from heat sources. In a perfect world, you may want to splurge for an in-tank pump. Electric pumps push fuel better than pull it, especially when you get into the higher fuel pressures that multiport engines require such as the LS series engines.

Frame mounted pump on my ’72 with a TBI 5.7L. It is a beater truck so the mounting isn’t as clean as it could be. The pump is mounted at an angle as I was too lazy to drill new holes and just used existing holes in the frame.

Temporary frame mounted pump on my ’78 K10 8.1L. I have since ditch this setup and gone to an in-tank pump.

I mounted mine under the the Cab on the passenger side on my 72. I went with a holley Blue.. Heres a couple of pictures to give you an idea maybe go the same route There is a couple of members that have placed the Pump in the same location...

That holley blue is what mine is only it is the sumit racing version. I am going to go check out where to put it a check out what summit recomends.

How does that setup handle exhaust heat?

You want the electric pump closer to the tank. Then with the LS style engine, you need a fuel pressure regulator with a return line back to the tank. This regulator should be mounted close to the fuel rails.

The Summit Racing pump ended up being no good so I ended up going and getting a Holley Red electric pump and I put it right under the cab where the fuel line starts out on the frame. I will post some pics and show how I ran the relay and tied into the fuse box for the ignition to turn the pump on. I now have 3/8" line from the tank to the carb for my LSx swap. I hope I am not currently starving my 250 I6 for fuel
