Re: '55 Chevy Dually
Well the weather was FINALLY good enough to be able to go and rescue the donor body for the crewcab part of the build. Not going to start on this right away, going to get the standard cab running and enjoy it for awhile (OK, thrash the hell out the 468cid that will under the hood.) This will be parked in the back yard for later rebuild of the cab. Almost feel bad for cutting it up but I couldn't beat the price.

Re: '55 Chevy Dually
Hmmm...
As long as your cutting it up. I wonder if it would be feasible to ship the rear quarters to Socal? Just thinking out loud. |

Re: '55 Chevy Dually
Depends on how much of the quarter are you wanting? They are not in the best of shape but if your truly interested in them, I can get you better picture. Your paying for shipping thou.

Re: '55 Chevy Dually
Quick update, will post pictures hopefully this weekend. Started boxing the frame in for motor mounts and extra support where I cut the frame to narrow it up. Also got the motor mounts built (frame side) and motor is bolted into the frame, ended up being able to use some Energy Suspension off the shelf mounts(motor side), at least this way they are kind of a easy part to replace if need be. Oh yay, a buddy of mine brought me over a aluminum radiator that I think will fit, it was in his small block s-10 before he tore it apart (FREEBIE). Ordered trans. mount today, hopefully be here in time for next weekend so I can get it mounted also. Also ordered a set of weld-up lakester style headers that I will modify to be fender well headers.
That's about it all for now, like I mentioned, will try and get pictures posted this weekend for all you PICTURE HOODS.

Re: '55 Chevy Dually
Started boxing in frame where I cut it to move it in for tire clearance when laid out. Also fab'd up motor mounts to work off the boxing. Passenger side Motor finally in its position. Was worried about finding/building mounts for power steering pump but after spending a few days looking at it, I found out I had the brackets already. Will post pictures later. Transmission fits pretty good in original opening, hoping with a little modification I can use the original floor access cover, will make putting in the floor shifter ALOT easier.

Re: '55 Chevy Dually
Motor to firewall clearance. Not sitting back as far as I was hoping for but had to make room for the dist. Got the transmission cross member built. Cross member installed. Sorry for the HORRIBLE picture, reached under the cab and shot the picture. Was able to keep everything above the frame rails and built it low enough that I'm going to try and sneak my exhaust back through the frame rails and run them inside the frame. OH YAY, a friend of mine brought over some over the frame headers and with a little massaging of the front primaries, I can make them work. These should let that little motor breath, 2" primaries and 3" collectors. So it looks like a lot of the things I was worried about after wedging the front frame rails in 4" are coming together. That's about it for now, working on rebuilding door hinges and waiting on parts for now.
