i have installed an '80 camaro clip and diff in my airbagged 55 gmc. i plan on running gunmetal torque thrust wheels in the 20"-22" range.
just curious as to the wheel width and offset as well as the tire sizes that you guys have used. i'd like as big a tire as i can get while still having the full range of steering, if possible.

I think the width and offset you have right now is what you want even with a larger diameter rim. Personally I'd just put new tires on those rims and call it good as they look great on that truck and will ride a lot better than big rims with rubber bands for tires.

I like those wheels as well, but the offset is wrong, I can only turn the wheels a hair before they hit the front fenders

There is about 2 feet of snow on it right now, I think they came off of a nova.

it might just be the pic, but it looks like your clip is too far forward. the wheels need to be centered. can you take a better side pic of it?

I have a camaro clip in one of my 59s. I think you will have a hard time finding a wheel that you can run with the suspension that low and not rub. I think the camaro clip is good for daily driver trucks that are not layed out as much as yours. I an running 15x7 with a 4" back space and 215/75/15 tires and have no issues. If it was as low as yours I am pretty sure it would rub.
Here is a pic of mine to show the ride height of mine. Its kind of hard to see in the photo but the top of the tire is about level with the fender lip.

Looking at the rims on the truck now I can see that they do have quite a bit of negative offset or reverse on the rims that looks great but isn't too practical on some trucks.

This may be where the borrow for a trial fit thing comes into play or hope that the tire store you go to has a wheel tire combo the size you are looking for that has the offset you need on their display rack so you can trial fit it and then pick the actual wheels and tires you want after that.

i moved the wheels forward 1.5" of stock, i dont have a better pic right now. if it get any warmer outside ill dig out the front and take a better pic

My ongoing truck projects: 48 Chev 3100 that will run a 292 Six. 71 GMC 2500 that is getting a Cad 500 transplant. 77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.
