Why did some have BBW?

Just curious why some of the mid 60's truck had the bigger back windows? Why does there seem to be less of the big back window trucks?

Re: Why did some have BBW?

BBW was a special order item, it wasn't standard equipment. Some love it, some hate it (particularly in the south with Mr.Sun peeking on your neck).

Either way it just wasn't standard so there are less of them, same as there are less GPS systems in modern vehicles than those without.

Re: Why did some have BBW?

Ahhh, o.k. I was just wondering if the big back window signified that the truck was a "deluxe" packaged truck or something goofy like that. I guess it would be like ordering a truck today, with or without the sliding rear window. So there really is no interesting story behind it, it was just an option. Thanks.

Whoooahhh, now I didn't say there wasn't a good story behind it. Some trucks might have a great story about why their windows are larger. For instance, compensation for a...Or:

1. The owner liked to lay out for a tan but didn't want to get wet, rain paranoia.
2. The owner's son dried his own "herbs" and wanted the extra rack space
3. The owner dragged around parade floats full of college girls and the 1960's model camera needed a wider angle

See? Never know why some people do some things

Re: Why did some have BBW?

The big window was an option. ANY truck could have been ordered with one. short or long, step or wide, plain or custom, all had the same choice: do nothing and get the standard small window, or order the big glass and pay more. That's about it.

Re: Why did some have BBW?

Does anyone have any records which show the cost of the BBW option at the time of order?

Re: Why did some have BBW?

Wow! Thank you for that information. I never would have guessed that it was that low.

In today's dollars that's $309.68 (thanks obama!), which sounds about like what I'd expect for adding a sliding glass window today.
