need muffler advise
I have a 71 gmc with a factory 402 (stock) with an H pipe and 2 1/2 inch exhaust what do you recommend for mufflers, I was thinking 40 series flowmasters

When I bought my truck, it came with flowmasters, although I don't know which ones they are I believe they are the 40 series just from videos of other trucks with them and I love them! It may be a little annoying for trips over 30 min, but they have a great sound

go to flowmastermufflers.com - they just brought out several new mufflers - depends on how loud you want truck and how you will be using it

I run 70 series Flow Masters with the same plumbing you have, and they are a lot quieter than the 40's. I personally think the 40 is too loud, in fact the shop that did my last system had a whole shelf full of low mileage 40 series that customers had removed because they were too loud.
I also ran the 50 series in another truck, and they weren't too bad really.

The 40 series will drone like crazy in the cab. The Delta flow 50 series seem to do a good job of keeping the drone out.

Ive had 40s for a couple yrs, magna flos are spose to be good also. I loved the sound and had same setup as you. Im now running Hedman mid lengths and will be running all new exhaust. Prolly 3 inch and magnas this time, just to see.

I have Hedmann Hedders and 3" exhaust with 40 series dumping out right in front of the rear tires. It's loud no matter what.
