Weatherseals
Hey guys,
I recently bought a 86' and need to replace the weatherseals. From what I've been recommended it looks like I'll be going with brothers. Has anyone bought there complete kit? If so how is it? My real question is they have a standard and deluxe kit, from what I can tell the deluxe has chrome trim. My truck is in winter storage ad from what I can remember it is basic weatherseals, maybe you can tell from this picture? Mike |

Re: Weatherseals
I haven't looked at Brother's kit but if it included the windshield seal yours is the deluxe one as it has the chrome lock strip.

Re: Weatherseals
If you don't care about it having the chrome lock strip, either will work. The base kit has a black lock strip as the difference. Looks like your stock one was at one time chrome as 1774btcrew said, but the chrome may have flaked off or faded if it's not currently actually appearing as chrome. If you're not sure what the "lock strip" is, it's the piece of plastic that you jamb down into the center gap of the windshield's rubber seal to hold it all into place.

Re: Weatherseals
So far I have had no problems with any of the aftermarket weather stripping I've purchased and I think i had 3 different brands. the only problems I've had are with the side window seals. None of them fit like the factory ones. they do the job... they just aren't perfect. and for clarification the one's i'm referring to are 2 per side door. and are at the base of the window on each side and clipped to the door panel on the inside. If anyone has found any that fit correctly all around...let me know.

Re: Weatherseals
Thanks everyone for all your input. The parts are ordered an should be here in a couple of weeks. The shipping almost killed me, almost 150.00 to get it to Toronto Ontario. I'll repost with the end results.
