Not sure where that one goes. On older cars, (like 40's and earlier) if you were the first one at the light, you couldn't see it without leaning into the windshield because of the design of the roof and windshield. The viewers either attached to the front of the hood or the dash board.

its a glass prism mounted on the dashboard so you can lookup and see trafficlights , were popular with leadsleds

I've seen 'em mounted on the windsheild or the dash...
Actually on a funny note...I was at a local car show and their was a guy doin ' automotive trivia and that was one of the questions "what is this" and out of 20 sum odd gear head/carshow buffs standing around at the time...I was the only one to get it right...it made me laugh at the time I was only 18 (and practically knew nothin about cars) and most of them were old enough to have driven a car that used those
