Drive shaft rubbing trailing arm crossmember
I have a 64 long bed 350/th350 with a 3/4 drop from CPP and a one piece driveshaft. With a decent sized load in the bed the driveshaft rubs on the trailing arm crossmember. What are the options to fix this?
I would like to go a little lower all around, does that mean I am stuck getting an aftermarket or modified trailing arm crossmember at some point? Are airbags in the rear the best option to maintain a decent ride and to be able to carry a load? Thanks. |

Cut the rivets out and flip the crossmember over?
I don't do lowered trucks anymore but once upon a time i remember thinking that would work.

or put the 2 piece drive shaft in with a carrier bearing.

Mine almost hits the upper passenger side of the hole as well. Mines lowered with a 9" but I have the swb. I don't think it actually hits tho, just real close. I've seen guys that just cut the hole in the crossmember a lil larger in the area it hits.

Thanks for the replies. My other concern is that the rear spring rate is too low, are there any lowering springs out there that are a little stiffer? Is it worth messing with helper springs or would an airbag setup be best?
