Re: 1998 k2500 8in lift and 35s?

Or could I turn up the torsion bars and put 8in lift leafs in the rear? Would I have to extend my driveshaft? And bigger shocks?

I have 35s on a 3 inch body lift only. Don't get involved with a body lift they are a PITA. You have enough lift now.

Don't crank your tortion bars, you will be sorry.

If you don't mind me asking what are the consequences of turning up the torsions?

harsh ride and excessive wear on front end parts. body lifts suck. the weaken you frame to body integrity. your body mounts will start to crack after a while the shift linkages won't engage right after time. had two trucks with them and hated it. don't waste your money or time.

I have had a body lift on my truck for about a year now, zero issues, 1995+ trucks use a shift cable, not linkage, i found my truck shifted BETTER after the lift.

first time i have heard of the body mounts cracking, don't really understand why the body lift would effect them, same load on them as there was before!

I would install another one in a heartbeat, i have a 3" Performance Accessories.

Re: 1998 k2500 8in lift and 35s?

you have to take in consideration that you are weakening the structural integrity of the vehicle by adding a body lift. you are basically adding a flex zone between the frame and body. over time you will notice cracking around the body mounts and connecting areas especially if it is wheeled hard. I have seen this many times. personally I don't like them. up here in the rust belt it may be different where you are at. structurally it is not good for your truck.

Re: 1998 k2500 8in lift and 35s?

My '92 torsion bars have been cranked up since '94 or so. It rides just fine, had 300k on it and have only had to replace the idler arm from time to time, which is common. 6" is plenty lift for 35s.
