theft prevention

French Blue,
Let me know how it works. I was thinking of putting one of those on my truck.

I had one of those. just hooked it up in line in the batt neg wire. It worked fine until I got the timing advanced too far and the amp draw of a stalled starter cooked it. I spend 2 days trying to figure out why the truck wouldn't start.

cool, i've also seen people take one of those turn off valves and put the in the fuel line so they can get out and pop the hood and turn it off...it actually works pretty well because the vehicle will start but then turn off.

You could just run a switch on the distributor power wire. Mount it up under the dash so no one can see it. If anyone trys to steal it they will just spin the motor without it ever firing.

wHen I worked for GM when we installed the gm alarms there was a wire for a manual starter interupt that we splice into the accelerate button on the cruise and you had to press that while turning the key to the start button. Same idea could be used here, Pust a relay in the starter circuit and trigger it with something like the high beam switch, or the headlights(park position), or a secret switch hidden somewhere.

On my SWB I am wiring up the cruise control button to my starter cut out relay

I JUST JUMPED THE NUETRAL SAFETY WIRE (PURPLE ONE), OR I SHOULD SAY I PUT A TOGGLE SWITCH IN LINE, & MOUNTED IT UP OUT OF SIGHT UNDER MY DASH. WORKS SO FAR. JOHN

You could put a switch on your parking brake release in series with your ignition starter wire.. Just reach down and yank back on the handle as your crank your truck over, works, and to other people, it will look like a 'normal' movement, just like unlocking the parking brake everytime you go to drive your truck.

As for the huge amp battery kill switches above, I would stick it between the battery and the starter, instead of just on the neg battery cable. This way, only your starter wouldn't have power, so that you (if this applies) wouldn't lose your stereo presets or something like that.
