tach red line

My dad's getting me a tach for Christmas, something I can bolt on to the steering column. Any tips I can tell him what to get? What should the red line be, 5 or 6? Since I put in the 373's I'm in 3rd gear in about 3 seconds, it really revs up quick, and of course my speedo is all messed up. ( th350c no overdrive) But I'll tell you this, it's fast as hell, I'm just afraid of blowing the engine with no tach. Thanks guys.

What do you mean by the redline? Do you mean that is all the higher you want the tach to go? or will it have shift light?

Get a tach that goes to at least 7000rpm, but don't rev your motor past 6000 [no point, but it can take 6500rpm blasts]

I'm not too sure about this. He has basically the same motor as I do and I don't think mine will make it to 6500.

they all have adjustable redlines, and most run to ten grand (tach, not YOUR redline)

What's the best way to fasten it? I'm sure it doesn't come with a strap or clamp for the column. Anybody have a pic of there's?

i have seen people fo it with worm gear clamps, you can screw it in if you want, but it will screw up you column, and may hit something, so i wouldn't do it!
