Camaro gas tank ?
I am curious to know something. I would like to relocate the gas tank to the rear and see everyone using the tanks that go to the bed or to the tail light. I personally would like the thinner profile early model camaro tank that has the filler behind the plate in the rear. My truck is lowered and I dont see many people using them and it seems the most common theme is the other style. My question is this, will it fit within the frame rails and why dont people use the camaro tank more often. Is there some reason I dont know , see , or understand. I have received tons of help from here and love this sight and figured you guys could help me on it. Thanks a ton for all of the help and anything you can offer on this one!! Jerry

Why would anyone want to go through the trouble of trying to mount a tank that doesn't fit? If there were no other options, then I guess I would understand, but there are other options out there.

Re: Camaro gas tank ?
Yea I understand that I have just seen a few guys do it and I dont like the fat tank that goes in between where the only option I see is to cut a hole in the bed or go through the tail light. I was hoping because it was a little thinner it wouldnt be so low to the ground but guess theres not much sense in doing it. Thanks for straighteninig me out lol!!

Re: Camaro gas tank ?
If you have rear coil springs, you can use a chevelle tank. It will lay flat against the frame and does not hang too low....

Re: Camaro gas tank ?
Ive installed one in my build--pics are there.
My install was a 69 camaro tank, filler behind the plate. The truck is lowered 4" in the back. The tank overhangs the frame rails by about 2" on both sides. The only issue with the overhang would be if you were going to use stock location exhaust pipes. Even with the 2" or so drop below the frame rails--the tank still sits Above the bottom of the diff. For my use of the truck this wont cause an issue at all.
