68 Chevy C10 Stepside

Got this 68 C10 from my dad. I grew up in this truck and instead of letting dad do all the work......he helped me get it started and now its all mine to finish up. My 1st father and daughter truck project.

Are you sure you have 67-70 brackets? They're shorter than 71/72 brackets. Otherwise, you can figure them out by checking that the end with the slotted hole goes on the frame.

Re: 68 Chevy C10 Stepside

The brackets are from Outback truck parts and they are marked year 67-72. My inner brackets fits into the frame but wont bolt to the bumper correct...... the outer brackets sit out too far.

There are no such thing as "67-72" brackets. Whoever pulled them did not know this either. 67-70 brackets are shorter due to there not being a turn signal/ park I g light in the bumper. When GM went to the lights in the bumper in 71, they made the bumper brackets longer to mount the bumper.

If you look at a 67-7 bumper compared to a 71/72, you'll see that the outer bumper bolts are farther out on the 71/72 bumper. The light openings are where the bumper bolts would be on a 67-70 bumper.

Take a look at any of the aftermarket parts catalogs and you'll see brackets for 67-70 and 71-72

I have a nice pair of 67-70 brackets that have e been blasted and painted, $40 shipped, or a pAir that needs to be cleaned up, $30 shipped.

Can you send me a pic of them and and your contact info? I'm interested in buying one of the sets. Send the pics to zepher0942@yahoo.com

Thanks!

I meant to say "there are no such thing as "67-72" brackets" above. I corrected it.

Re: 68 Chevy C10 Stepside

I am famiar with your situation as about two years ago I bought what was advertised on ebay as 71/72 brackets. These are the painted brackets i am selling. The body shop lost mine (among other things!) so I bought them and when i got them i was just in the beginning stages of building a 72, and it was four hours away at the paint shop and I didnt think to double check the length. They werent bent and looked fine so I left positive feedback. Almost two years later I went to use them and they were too short. I contacted the seller but they would not reply. Oh well I have been burnt for worse!
