Good donor?

I found this little gem and I am curious if it would make for a good donor for my 1963 Chevy stepside long bed this frame is off of a 1974 Chevy Crew Cab Dually Two Wheel Drive Truck. I was thinking I could hijack the brakes and maybe looks like there a power steering setup on there too. They are wanting 300 for this.

Re: Good donor?

what are you using it on? Won't work for a 1/2 ton.

Re: Good donor?

Not even the front rotors and the front part? Or the power steering box?

Re: Good donor?

Not worth $300 for a steering box and some rotors. I would not use it for a 1/2 ton since it is like a 1 ton.

Re: Good donor?

There are ways to do it if you piece it together yourself. Try looking on Craigslist for a 1/2 ton donor.

Re: Good donor?

About the only thing on that frame that would be usable on a 1/2 ton is the steering box. The rest is all 1 ton 8 lug.

There is absolutely no reason to have to pay $1k for a suspension and brake upgrade. There ought to be plenty of '73+ C10 pickups and Suburbans in your area that you can get for parts.

Re: Good donor?

I used an '81. I paid $75.00 for it.

Lots of good info here. This will help you find a donor.
